All Key Skills are available as qualifications at levels 1 to 4 of the National Qualifications Framework. For a level three Apprenticeship level two Key skills will need to be achieved and for a level Two Apprenticeship Level One Key skills will need to be achieved
For your comparison:
- Level 1 is about the same level as GCSE grade D to G or NVQ Level 1
- Level 2 is about the level of GCSE A* to C or NVQ Level 2
- Level 3 is about the same level as AS, A level or NVQ Level 3
The first three key skills are assessed through a portfolio of your work. PLUS an Online test taken at Mercia Management (which is marked by an awarding body).
The wider key skills are ONLY assessed through a portfolio, sometimes supported by questioning by your assessor.
The key skills that you will have to do will depend upon the level of Apprenticeship that you do and the type of industry that you will be working in, and if you have any equivalent qualifications (as per the list above) that will exempt you from Key Skills.
Mercia Management will work with you to determine the Key Skills that you will have to complete to achieve your apprenticeship framework.
